Anatomical Study on Arterial Supply of Hypophysis of the Korean Native Goat

Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the arterial supply on the hypophysis of he Korean native goat. Observations were made by dissection of ten Korean native goats fi ed in embalming fluid and injected with neoprene latex. For the dissection of smaller art ries, the binocular stereomicroscope was used.
The results were as follows;
1. The hypophysis received its blood supply from the rostral and caudal hypophys, al -arteries which derived from the internal carotid artery and the epidural rete mirab le, respectively.
2. The rostral hypophyseal artery arose from the internal carotid artery, coursed cr-niomedially under the optic chiasm and reached the rostrodorsal surface of the hypophys: al stalk. It sent branches to the optic chiasm and the lower part of the brain.
Rostral hypophyseal artery divided into ascending and descending branches, and joi -d the contralateral branches to form arterial ring around the hypophyseal stalk. May y branches were gave off from this arterial ring which ran down along the long axis ?f
the hypophyseal stalk.
3. The dorsal and ventral branches of the caudal hypophyseal artery arose from t e communicating branch of epidural rete mirabile.
The dorsal branch of the caudal hypophyseal artery coursed cranially along the dors-I surface of the neurohypophysis.
The ventral branch of the caudal hypophyseal artery penetrated the caudal end ?f
the neurohypophysis and supplied its substance.
